I've been doing quite a bit of fiber-related stuff lately. As you may have seen in my last post, I recently "released" my first pattern. I've finished a couple other things lately, and have lots more in the works. I'm also working on doing some dyeing with berries from a mysterious (and somewhat evil) tree in my front yarn, and my Japanese Indigo are getting huge, although I'm still in a Battle To The Bitter End with a huge number of slugs.
One of the things I've finished recently is my Rock Island shawl. You might recall that I had some trouble getting started with this one, but once I finished the edging, the rest flew by. Although the edging pattern caused me some problems, the Rock Island chart was easy enough to not have to restart, but difficult enough to keep my attention. Having used some 100% cashmere I frogged recently, I was somewhat at the mercy of the yarn. I've had good and bad experiences with reused yarn, but this was definitely on the "good" side of the continuum.
I also finished the cowl whose yarn I recently impulse-bought. It turned out as amazingly as I'd hoped, and is so soft and warm that I (almost) can't wait for winter to wear it! Plus I love red, so there's that. The pattern was really easy to follow once I was out of my drug-induced stupor, and it took a weekend to complete.
I'm kind of out of projects right now, though. I only have about three things cast on right now, and that's probably an all-time low since I hit my first JoAnn yarn sale. Any brilliant new patterns out there? Let me know, because it probably isn't safe for me to be so free...
